Step 2
Initial Assessment
Before tutoring begins, each student undergoes an initial assessment that gives insight into key reading-related skills, such as phonemic awareness, letter knowledge, decoding abilities, fluency, comprehension, and spelling. By identifying a student's current literacy skills and potential challenges, we can provide targeted support that can significantly impact a student's reading abilities.
Step 3
Structured Literacy Tutoring
Our specialized tutoring sessions are based on a Structured Literacy / Orton-Gillingham approach. Students will develop their literacy skills through lessons that are direct, explicit, individualized, multisensory, engaging, interactive, and tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Each lesson is designed to build on previous skills while introducing new concepts in a systematic manner.
Meet Your Literacy Specialist
Ashleigh Dwight
Ashleigh Dwight is a literacy specialist and Ontario certified teacher who is trained in the Orton-Gillingham / Structured Literacy approach. She has over 10 years of experience as a special education classroom teacher where she specialized in working with students with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning challenges. Ashleigh has a Master of Education degree in Teaching and Learning, and she is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers.
Online Initial Assessment
$130
Each student undergoes an initial assessment that gives insight into key reading-related skills, such as phonemic awareness, letter knowledge, decoding abilities, fluency, comprehension, and spelling.
Initial assessments are 50 minutes in length and are completed online using Zoom
Parents/guardians will receive scanned copies of the assessments and an assessment summary that highlights student's current literacy skills and areas of need
Online Tutoring Sessions
$100
Structured Literacy online tutoring sessions use the Orton-Gillingham approach—a direct, explicit, individualized, systematic, multisensory method that is highly effective in helping students with dyslexia and other literacy challenges develop reading, writing, and spelling skills.
Each session is 50 minutes in length
Students participate in engaging, interactive online lessons using Zoom
At least two sessions a week are recommended to ensure consistent progress for students with dyslexia
In-Home Initial Assessment
$140+
Each student undergoes an in-home initial assessment that gives insight into key reading-related skills, such as phonemic awareness, letter knowledge, decoding abilities, fluency, and comprehension.
In-home initial assessments are 50 minutes in length and are completed in a quiet space in the student's home
Parents/guardians will receive scanned copies of the assessments and an assessment summary that highlights student's current literacy skills and areas of need
In-home initial assessments are currently available for students in the following neighbourhoods in Toronto: Beaches, Upper Beaches, and Birchcliff (prices start at $140 and will be finalized based on student's location)
In-Home Tutoring Sessions

Sessions take place in a quiet space in the student's home
In-home tutoring is currently available for students in the following neighbourhoods in Toronto: Beaches, Upper Beaches, and Birchcliff (prices start at $110 and will be finalized based on student's location)

Online Educational Consulting
$100
Did your child recently receive a dyslexia/learning disability diagnosis? Do you want to support their reading and spelling at home but have no idea where to start? Do you need strategies to help advocate for your child at school? Do you have questions about your child's IEP? We offer online educational consulting sessions to help provide solutions to these questions and more.
Educational Consulting sessions are 50 minutes in length and are completed online using Zoom
Payment and Policies
Tutoring sessions are prepaid at the beginning of each month via e-transfer
Payment is due on the 1st of each month (you will receive an invoice for the upcoming month's sessions approximately a week before payment is due)
Sessions are billed in Canadian Dollars (CAD)
No sessions will take place on statutory holidays (you will not be billed for these dates)
Tutoring sessions are non-refundable
For cancellations that are made by parents/guardians with 24 hours’ notice, a make-up session will be offered
For cancellations by the tutor, a make-up session or refund will be offered
A parent/student may occasionally have to cancel a session without 24 hours' notice due to illness or other unavoidable circumstances and, in those instances, the session may be rescheduled at the tutor's discretion
Educational Consulting fees are one-time payments and paid via e-transfer before the scheduled appointment
